EMERGENCY PRIMARY EDUCATION PROGRAM MANSEHRA

Objective:
  1. To restart educational activities Post earthquake in regular schools of District Mansehra and to establish the camp schools in spontaneous/ organized camps to fill up the educational gap generated by earthquake.
  2. To organize schooling at high altitude and remote area of Kaghan valley.

Major Activities

Community Mobilization
Due to massive loss of lives and material of October calamity the whole population of the affected area was in trauma.
Parents were reluctant to send their children to school as they were scared of another similar incident. However, due to constant counseling the affected children were brought back in to the schools.

Class room Management
Students were facilitated up to maximum by providing them all sort of equipment in a proper shelter. Some food items were also distributed amongst them in order to overcome the shortage of food.

Monitoring
A monitoring team kept on pointing out he short coming with in the premises of schools so as to continue process of the education at its maximum. They carried out their visits of schools regularly.
Excellent arrangements in schools attracted almost 99% officials/visitors to visit the BEST established schools as compared to other sister organization/Implementing partner.

Achievements

  1. Established 100 planned schools.
  2. 1 GGMS, 3GGPS and 2GPS were established additionally. The establishment cost was bore by the BEST.
  3. Affecties students were successfully taken out of trauma of earthquake by employing different modes and means.
  4. Arranged visits of National and international dignitaries which ultimately helped the students to bring them back to their normal life.
  5. Mobilized the parents to get their female children enrolled in the schools.
  6. Erected 236 tents in total.
  7. Distributed 1226 plastic mats.
  8. Distributed 5910 exercise books.
  9. Distributed 194 black boards.
  10. A bulk of FI’s and other related NFI’s were also distributed amongst the children.
  11. A large no of feeder teachers were appointed to overcome the shortage of teachers in the schools.
